Rotary Lombardi Award and Club Member Marcus Rolls

Marcus Rolls is proud to be a member of the Houston, Texas community. As a working professional, Marcus Rolls is able to help his community in a number of ways. The main way he has chosen to help his community is through his membership with the Rotary Club of Houston.

As part of the rotary club, Marcus Rolls takes part in community service events. One of the recent events that Marcus Rolls was a part of was the Rotary Lombardi Award. The nominees for the award appeared at a local middle school as part of a community outreach program. It was Marcus Rolls who acted as master of ceremony for the event.

At the event, two college football players addressed a Houston middle school about the importance of staying in school. Marcus Rolls and others of the rotary club hoped that by hearing football players speak about the importance of education, the children would be more apt to listen. Since many children hear from their parents to stay in school and study hard, the message can sometimes be lost in its repetitiveness.

Marcus Rolls was honored to participate in the event. The event, which took place in early December of 2012, had a great impact on Marcus Rolls because he grew up in the area near the middle school. It is a message that he hopes the children take to heart.

Marcus Rolls comprehends how important education is. In order to build a successful career for himself, Marcus Rolls had to attend college, study hard, and obtain various industry licenses. He continues his education each year by attending seminars, workshops, and conferences. The Rotary Lombardi Award is given every year to a college lineman who demonstrates certain skills, and the proceeds go towards the American Cancer Society.
