Education opens doors
and is a key to success. This belief encourages many people to stay in school.
The hope of greater opportunity spans many ethnicities and age groups. Many
parents and community leaders hope that the youth will follow through with
their schooling because little can be done without 12 or more years of school.
One of the most recent
events that Marcus Rolls attended through his membership with the Rotary Club
of Houston was a talk at a Houston middle school. The purpose was to encourage
children to not give up on themselves or their education. Marcus Rolls acted as
the “master of ceremony” for the event, which featured two college football
players as speakers.
Marcus Rolls
understands it is easy for children to lose the message their parents instill
in them about education. Even the encouragement of teachers can be forgotten
because they see teachers so often. But, to have notable figures such as
football players come and speak to children can compound the wisdom of others.
Marcus Rolls
appreciates that not every child has the opportunities that he did growing up
as a child. Marcus Rolls grew up not far from the middle school where the
education outreach event was held. It is Marcus Rolls’ and others hope that the
children who live in Houston will take the message of other educated adults to
heart and ignore the temptations outside of school.
Marcus Rolls is a proud
member of the Rotary Club of Houston. As a prosperous figure, he has promised
to use his position to serve others. One of the committees in the club is
specifically targeted towards education. Through various community targeted
events like the event at the school, Marcus Rolls hopes to direct the community
towards a greater future.
