Marcus Rolls and the Rotary Club of Houston

There are many organizations that adults can join that demonstrate their professional positions in the work force. Marcus Rolls decided to join the Rotary Club of Houston. In order to qualify as a member of the rotary club, Marcus Roll had to fit in one of three categories; someone who’d participated in the Rotary Foundation, served as a community leader, or held an executive business position.

Through the rotary club, Marcus Rolls also had to make a commitment to serve his community. The motto of the rotary club is to “serve above self” and Marcus Rolls is prepared to do just that. The most recent way he helped serve his community by was acting as ceremony of chief for the Rotary Lombardi Award event where nominees spoke at a local Houston, Texas middle school.
It is the hope of Marcus Rolls, other rotary club members, teachers, and parents that children will follow through with their basic education and pursue a college education afterward. One of the main areas of community service performed by the rotary club is focused on the youth of Houston. They perform this through the Youth & Education committee.

There are other committees that Marcus Rolls can get involved in through the rotary club. Other committees include the Fresh Start Committee, Public Health Committee, Rotary Lombardi Award Committee, and Scholarship Committee. No matter the committee, professionals like Marcus Rolls join them to serve their community.

Marcus Rolls, like all members, had to make promises or declarations in order to become a member of the club. The theme of the promises is to be honest and work to serve others to the best of his or her abilities. A member of the Houston community, Marcus Rolls always works to help both individuals and larger neighborhoods, and he is committed to making his city a better place to live.
