Encouraging Kids to Stay in School Important to Marcus Rolls

There is little question that education is important. We’ve seen in America how many of the best jobs head to states or countries that have higher levels of academic achievement. The reason why is because often, these individuals have the business skills or technical skills that are in demand in today’s economy.

Marcus Rolls wants kids to stay in school. Coming from an urban area, Marcus Rolls knows there are many temptations that lead children to want to prematurely end their education. Through community work and talking to young children, Marcus Rolls hopes to head off that temptation.

The sad truth to the matter is many students as far along as middle school are tempted to give up on their education. Their reasons may vary but it is a problem that needs to be addressed. Marcus Rolls hopes that if children learn the value of education, they will stay in school, stay away from crime and illegal substances, and value their education as much as their parents and teachers want them to.

One way that Marcus Rolls has worked to encourage children to stay in school was through his membership with the Rotary Club of Houston. It was in the early part of December 2012 that Marcus Rolls and other rotary club members had two college football players speak to students at Cullen Middle School in Houston, Texas. The point was to drive home the idea that education is important.

Having student athletes speak to middle school students will hopefully inspire them to stay in school. Marcus Rolls understands that having teachers express the importance of education will only go so far. Having a local celebrity like a college football athlete may do more to inspire youth to follow through with their education. At least, that is what Marcus Rolls and other adults hope.
